Wetting and drying scheme for POM and its applications to San Francisco Bay

چکیده

A wetting and drying scheme (WDS) is developed to incorporate into a threedimensional sigma-coordinate coastal ocean model with proposing an extended logarithmic profile within bed boundary layers to accurately simulate hydrodynamics in extremely shallow coastal seas. While WDS is simplistically formulated, it conserves water mass and has a good agreement with the analytical solution. The model is also applied to San Francisco Bay, California, which has considerably large intertidal areas, and is confirmed its accuracy by comparing observed data with the model-generated tidal elevations and currents.
